A full house in Melbourne: Psychiatrists and the Media

It was wonderful to see a sold-out evening in Melbourne for ASoP's State by State event: Psychiatrists and the Media.
The evening brought psychiatrists together for a thoughtful and interesting conversation about psychiatry, the media and how we talk publicly about mental health.
The discussion was lively, but what stood out most was the engagement in the room. There were different perspectives and plenty of debate, but also a strong sense of common purpose: we all want better mental healthcare and psychiatrists have an important role in advocating for it.
A huge thank you to our speakers, Ruth Vine, Neil Cole, Henrietta Cook and Suresh Sundram, and ASoP Director Andy Carroll for kicking us off with a powerful presentation on the current state of psychiatry in Australia.

It was a great reminder of what ASoP is trying to build — a community of psychiatrists willing to come together, have interesting conversations and use our collective voice to advocate for better care.
