ASoP was pleased to attend the 2026 AMA Colleges, Associations and Societies Meeting in Canberra, which brought together leaders from over 50 medical colleges, associations and societies across Australia. The forum provided a valuable opportunity to connect across the profession and engage in national conversations about the future of our health system.
The programme spanned key priorities, including innovation in prevention, how we train and support the next generation of doctors, workforce reform and scope of practice, and the role of advocacy, media and politics in shaping health policy. The day also featured keynote addresses from leaders across government, academia and clinical practice. Importantly, it underscored the value of learning from and working alongside colleagues across all specialties — recognising that many of the challenges we face are shared, and that solutions are strengthened through cross-disciplinary collaboration.
ASoP looks forward to continuing these conversations with our broader medical colleagues and contributing to a stronger, more coordinated health system.
